Painted Rock Estate Winery is a place built from the ground up. Perched on a dramatic west-facing bench above Skaha Lake in Penticton, this family-owned and operated, single-vineyard estate was founded in 2004 by John and Trish Skinner after a three-year search for the rare combination of climate, soils, and exposure needed to produce truly world-class wines.
What they discovered here was exceptional. A natural amphitheatre of rock shelters the vineyards, while steady lake breezes and excellent air drainage create ideal growing conditions.

This singular site defines every wine produced at Painted Rock.The 56-acre estate is planted exclusively to Chardonnay, Syrah, the five classic Bordeaux varieties, and a beautifully expressive Rosé. All wines are grown and made on the estate, reflecting the family’s long-term commitment to stewardship, patience, and place.Today, the heart of Painted Rock is its architecturally distinctive tasting room and expansive patio overlooking the vineyards and Skaha Lake.

Are reservations required?
Reservations are not required; however, as a small winery, reservations do help ensure a table during busy days and allow our team to plan ahead. They are always appreciated.
Is there a tasting fee?
Yes. Our guided tasting experience features five estate wines, takes approximately 30–45 minutes, and is $20 per person.
Do you offer food or other beverage options?
Yes. We offer a locally sourced cheese and charcuterie plate in collaboration with Cocktails & Canapés, along with a small selection of regional craft beer and non-alcoholic options to enjoy on our patio overlooking the vineyards and Skaha Lake.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely. Painted Rock is a family-owned and operated estate, and we believe the best moments are shared. As parents ourselves, we’re happy to welcome your little ones. We have colouring activities and juice on hand for kids, and simply ask that children stay close so everyone can relax and enjoy the sunshine, the view, and the wine.
