VINTAGE
In January 2024, British Columbia’s wine regions, including the Okanagan Valley, ‑experienced an extreme cold event with temperatures plummeting below -20°C for extended periods. This freeze resulted in an estimated 90% loss of the wine grape crop and destroyed a significant number of grapevines, leading to a projected 97–99% reduction in typical yields for the year. The 2024 growing season was relatively dry and saw above average temperatures which promoted early ripening of fruit of the few blocks of vineyard that did survive. The low crop load along with the hot and dry season produced very concentrated flavours.
WINEMAKING
Pinot Gris grapes were hand-picked from our Estate Vineyard from some of the oldest vines in British Columbia (approximately 50 years old). The grapes were gently pressed, then the juice fermented in stainless steel tanks for pure fruit expression, and aged in 2,000L French oak foudre for 6 months. Limited production of 225 cases.
CHARACTERISTICS
This Pinot Gris has a delicate copper hue from the grape’s pinky grey-coloured skins, and a perfumed bouquet of ripe stone fruits with a hint of floral and spice notes. This medium to full-bodied wine is smooth on the palate, with a creamy texture, and a refreshing acidity. Flavours of melon, baked apple, and spice, linger on the slightly off dry finish. Enjoy with lcrab stuffed mushroom caps; poached salmon; pan-fried scallops.
