Forbidden Fruit is a family operated winery at the very southern tip of the pristine Similkameen Valley. Proprietors Kim and Steve have turned a 142 acre nature estate into a thriving certified organic orchard, vineyard, winery, and conservation haven since 1977. The growing conditions of the valley compliment sustainable farming and the fruit is grown for flavor, turned into luscious wines that are guaranteed to excite all senses on the palate. With the help of their son, head winemaker Nathan Venables, the winery has garnered over 290 awards including “Best of Canada” for their Flaunt Sparkling Plum and Pomme Desiree Iced Apple” at the All Canadian Wine Championship including a Gold medal for their exclusive Dead End Tannat/Malbec red wine blend. The tasting boutique is open 7 days a week from April to October 31 and showcases their 26 grape wines, ciders and fruit wines along with local art such as mosaics, paintings and handmade jewelry. The winery invites everyone to bring their own picnic fare and spend some time enjoying one of B.C’s most beautiful vistas overlooking the riverside and valley.
Friendly family run winery. River runs by it, very natural setting. I liked the bubbly plum wine. A plum wine, sweeter, bubbly, light, I would have it served with cheeses for dessert. Refreshing on a hot day.
